R Davidson has further strengthened its experienced team by adding another member of staff to their surveying department.
Chris Black, from Brechin, is a quantity surveyor with a wealth of experience in the construction industry and has recently joined the team to assist with the company’s overall growth strategy.
Chris, 35, who previously worked as an assistant surveyor at roofing merchants for eight years, has several years of experience in the trade after working his way up the career ladder and completing his training to become a qualified surveyor.
Chris joins R Davidson’s other experienced surveying team member, Gavin McCombie, 24, who has been at the firm for three years. After graduating from Robert Gordon University with a degree in quantity surveying, Gavin initially joined the team as junior quantity surveyor but his three years with R Davidson has allowed him to develop his expertise and move up the ranks to a more senior role.
Both Chris and Gavin, manage all the costs relating to the private and commercial work on behalf of the long established painting and decorating firm. As part of their role, the duo assist pre and post contract, preparing estimates and cost analysis for the work, as well as procurement advice and document preparation. They will also manage the projects from start to finish and keep track of any variations or risks that may affect costs.
Managing director of R Davidson, Trevor Mutch, said: “Chris has been a great addition to the team with a vast knowledge in the industry and in particular, surveying. He has worked his way up the career ladder and shown a real flair in his trade. We already have a high calibre of staff at R Davidson, such as Gavin who has shown huge talent and enthusiasm since staring three years ago, so Chris’s appointment will assist our on-going expansion within the North-east.”
Chris said, “As I have worked in the industry for a number of years, I have built up a great deal of knowledge and experience, which I am really enjoying using in my role at R Davidson. As part of my job, I have to make sure the projects run smoothly from the very beginning to the very end, it’s hugely satisfying so when a project is completed successful and efficiently.”
The award winning firm are currently working with a range of major commercial clients including, the prestigious new Chester Hotel, formally Simpsons hotel, in Aberdeen’s West End, which involves decorating the 49 bedrooms, halls and communal area to be completed early 2014.
Gavin said, “At R Davidson, no two days are the same and that is what I enjoy about my job. Since starting with R Davidson, I have learnt so much and it has been great to work within such an experienced team. It is good to have Chris on board as we continue to expand with several new private and commercial properties to manage.”
